Just Get Over It

I recently had someone tell me to “get over” what happened to me (see first blog post) and that I am causing too many problems in my life and that I’m not emotionally stable enough to have relationships with people. “Who wants to be with someone who just got out of the mental hospital?”

Well I say that is bullshit! Boy, BYE! Don’t ever let anyone tell you to get over something. That’s not their job. There is no time limit when it comes to the healing process. Let me repeat that for the people in the back. THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT WHEN IT COMES TO THE HEALING PROCESS. Take all the time you need to better yourself. If someone in your life is telling you these things then it’s time to kick them to the curb!

When it comes to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety, there is a lot to work through. It’s not something you just get over. It takes time and it takes a lot of really exhausting work. For some people, it might take a few months, for others a few years. Just know, you are not damaged goods, you deserve the best! Don’t ever let anyone tell you differently. You WILL heal and you WILL be ok. Heal at your own pace not anyone else’s.

Since I am a huge Pinterest fan, I looked up a few quotes that relate to this. Here are my favorites.

It’s been a little over 2 years since my trauma and I am still not healed and that’s ok. Sometimes with PTSD things don’t hit you until years later. I am doing what I need to do to heal. I am taking all the necessary steps and I know that one day I will be just fine. I deserve love and I deserve to be treated with respect and dignity no matter what. So do you! Always remember that.
